Janhvi is the daughter of late actress Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor. She comes from a renowned film family, with her paternal uncles being actors Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.

Janhvi completed her schooling at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai. After finishing high school, she traveled to the United States to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City.
